COURTENAY, B.C. – February 23, 2004 – Recently featured in a Toronto evening news segment, Island Ink-Jet® Systems enjoyed over a million additional hits on their website and dozens of new customers at locations in the viewing area. Today, Island Ink-Jet® Systems announced that they will be opening in six Canadian Wal-Mart® locations over the next two weeks. Island Ink-Jet has scheduled 1000 locations to open by December 2005.
Island Ink-Jet® Systems will start with test locations at Wal-Mart® stores in British Columbia and Alberta. Specifically, their locations will be situated in tenant spots near the front of the stores. The first Island Ink-Jet® Wal-Mart® location opened it’s doors today in Courtenay BC, the hometown of Island Ink-Jet® Systems Inc. Openings will follow in Calgary AB, Red Deer AB, New Westminster BC, Langley BC, and Vernon BC. If proven successful, Island Ink-Jet® could be welcomed in to additional Wal-Mart® locations across Canada.

Island Ink-Jet® Systems is the first “Refill-While-You-Shop” regional shopping center ink-jet refill service center of its kind in North America. “The service is similar to a one-hour photo shop – you can drop off empty printer cartridges while you shop, and pick them up within the hour” says CEO Carey Porcher. The refill service and refill kits make use of over 100 different formulations of ink which enables Island Ink-Jet® Systems to stand behind the quality of their product 100%.
Since Island Ink-Jet® Systems was incorporated in 2000, the company has been committed to offering an environmental and money saving solution to the North American marketplace. If Wal-Mart® shoppers choose not to refill their cartridge at the new Island Ink-Jet® locations, they will also have the option to recycle it there. $1.00 will be given as a refund back to the customer, and $1.00 will be donated to a local charity supported by Wal-Mart®.
